When a restaurant is packed to the rafters before 7 p.m. and would-be diners are contentedly hanging around the front door clutching the clunky pager issued by the seating hostess, you certainly hope there’s a very good reason. That’s what I was thinking when we found this scene at Mac’s one recent evening: It had better be great, I muttered under my breath, annoyed at not having thought to make a reservation. But nobody seemed to mind hanging out. Between 30 minutes and an hour later, I was beginning to understand why everyone waited patiently for a table. That’s when I was sipping on a perfectly chilled glass of chardonnay and tucking into the first bite of Mac’s smoked crab cakes. The wonderful appetizer was a meaty blend of pieces of smoked fresh shrimp, silky scallops and big shreds of crabmeat. Alongside was a salsa made of roasted tomatoes and mild red chilies, which offered a tartness that played nicely off the deeply flavored fish. That alone would have justified hanging our until a table opened up, even if I hadn’t adored the pecan-crusted trout that followed and even if the others at my table hadn’t loved their filet with chimichuri sauce and bacon-wrapped shrimp. But that’s another story, well worth waiting for. Star Time – Fort Worth Star Telegram

My favorite is the etouffee with a choice of shrimp or crawfish. The etouffee is spicy, tongue-wagging hot, and it has plenty of crawfish. I tried a cup of file gumbo and the prime rib and crab legs entree during a visit to the Colleyville location. The gumbo was delicious, with a rich, Cajun flavor. My partner had the fried seafood combo with shrimp, oysters and crawfish and a baked potato. The seafood was lightly fried with a crispy coating. We capped off the meal with cheesecake and Key lime pie. Both were good. Fort Worth Star-Telegram |

We would like to commend the staff at Mac's - Colleyville -
for their excellent customer service. We planned a birthday dinner for our 18 year old daughter which included a surprise gift! The entire staff, including the hostess, waiter and manager helped us surprise her with a vehicle. I made reservations over the phone and dropped off cupcakes and a gift. It was a lovely dinner and we all enjoyed the excellent service and attention provided by Ryan. After dinner Ryan presented the table with our cupcakes and the gift. When our daughter opened the gift and found the car keys, Ryan was there to open the restaurant doors to her new car sitting out front! It was a great surprise that we could only execute with the help of the entire staff at Mac's. It was a very special evening that our family will always cherish. Please commend your staff, especially Ryan, for making this a night to remember. We have always enjoyed dining at Mac's and knew they would make this a very special occasion. Thanks for the memories!

I had the luxury of dining here with and her dad and brother. The environment was casual and inviting and the wait staff was helpful. The wine list wasn't overbearing and wasn't overpriced. I had a great time. The prime rib was delicious. Cooked well and still tender it really was great. We had appetizers beforehand - the crab fingers were new to me but fantastic all the same. The openness of the place with its huge ceilings lends itself nicely to an evening out with friends. Enjoy it!

Wonderful food, reasonably priced. Some of the best salad I have ever had, anywhere. Fresh and varied with a delicious house specialty vinegar and oil and crumbled cheese. I could have eaten the salad alone and been perfectly happy. Everyone in my party ordered a seafood dish except one, who ordered steak. Everyone was more than pleased with their choice and I can't wait to go back.
